Environmental Science Program to Host Community Information Meeting

Westminster College's Environmental Science Program will host "Fracking in Our Community: What You Need to Know," an informational meeting for the community, Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater of McKelvey Campus Center.  The event is free and open to the public.

Speakers will address the many complex issues surrounding slick water natural gas fracking.

Westminster College senior biology major Caleb Smathers will share some of his research on water produced from natural gas drilling.  His project is conducted under the supervision of Dr. Joe Balczon, Westminster associate professor of bioogy.

Smathers is a son of William and Elizabeth Smathers of Punxsutawney and a graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.
