Service Fraternity to Host "Haunted Bio Trail" Fundraiser

The Westminster College chapter of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity will host a Haunted Bio Trail Saturday, Oct. 29, from 8 p.m.-midnight. The Halloween-themed event is open to the public.
There is no alternate date, so participants should dress for the weather, including shoes or boots that might get muddy, according to Casey Schmidt, a senior molecular biology major and Alpha Phi Omega public relations chair. The walk will take approximately 15 minutes from the starting point located behind Burry Stadium, near the tennis courts and soccer field.
"If the event were a movie, it'd be rated PG-13," said Brian Van Buren, a senior psychology major and co-chair of the event. "Anyone can come, but children should have an adult present. It may not be suitable for very young children."
Morgan McNeal, junior early childhood education/special education major, is also co-chairing.
Tickets, available at the starting point, are $3 for Westminster students, children, and senior citizens; $4 for adults and non-Westminster students. All proceeds will benefit Royal Family Kids' Camp for abused, abandoned, and neglected children.
Alpha Phi Omega is a national coed service fraternity dedicated to leadership, friendship, and service, and open to all students. The Westminster chapter is one of more than 600 nationwide.
Schmidt is a daughter of Michael and Patricia Schmidt of Glenshaw and a graduate of Shaler Area High School.
Van Buren is a son of Eugene and Susan Van Buren of Tampa, Fla., and a graduate of Paul R. Wharton High School.
McNeal is a daughter of Randy and Terry McNeal of Athens and a graduate of Athens Area High School.
