Chaplain Named to Collegiate Ministries Task Force

Posted on Friday, April 1, 2011

The Rev. James Mohr, Westminster College chaplain and director of church relations, was named to the Collegiate Ministries task force of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

Mohr is one of 10 members of the panel that includes campus chaplains, campus pastors, and congregationally-connected leaders.  He previously served on the Presbyterian College Chaplains Association national board and the Presbyterian Association of College and Higher Education Ministries board.

The Office of Collegiate Ministries was re-established by the denomination's 219th General Assembly last year.  The task force is charged with considering how the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) can minister to the college community; the current trends and future possibilities of ministry to collegians and those who work with them; and developing an implementable plan to move forward in this ministry.

Mohr, who came to Westminster in 2003, served as pastor of St. Andrews United Presbyterian Church (Butler), First Presbyterian Church (Silver Creek, N.Y.), and First Presbyterian Church (St. Petersburg, Fla.).  He earned an undergraduate degree from Muskingum College and M.Div. from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
