Westminster College Announces Audio Visual Award Winner

Posted on Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Heather MacKenzie, a senior sociology major, received the Westminster College 2009 Audio Visual Award for exceptional work to the campus.

MacKenzie is a daughter of Mark and Barbara MacKenzie of Upland, Calif., and a graduate of Upland High School.

Gary Swanson, Westminster College director of audio visual services, said, "An annual ballot of nominees was reviewed by a panel of current faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni. Heather's nominated work was selected as 'most outstanding.'"

MacKenzie began as a student assistant and was promoted to the positions of AV purchasing manager and operations manager.

"Ms. MacKenzie has been consistently recognized by faculty, staff, and her peers for her organized, efficient, and competent approach to her work, as well as her excellent rapport with people of all ages," Swanson added. "We have had many good managers over my nearly 20 years here, but few have possessed her levels of problem-solving, creativity, and leadership skills. She developed, conducted, and compiled results for the first comprehensive departmental review in the last five years, and was instrumental in coordinating communications and providing leadership for the department and its alumni. Heather has been a dynamic, indispensable manager, providing solid leadership to our staff and new recruits. Her contributions to Westminster College are innumerable, and I'm delighted that our panel of judges chose her as the 2009 recipient of this award."

MacKenzie received a framed certificate and bookstore gift certificate. Her name will be added to the permanent award plaque on display in the audio visual department.
