I have been an assistant professor in the history department at Westminster College (Pa.) since 2023. I have a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BA from Goshen College (Ind.).
My teaching interests include early U.S. history, American Indian history and culture, environmental studies, modern empires, race in U.S. history, world geography, modern China, and public history.
My research work involves using Geographic Information Systems, Potawatomi language, soil science, local histories, and the Public Land Survey System to study the Great Lakes region in the late 1700s and early 1800s.
My personal interests include parenting, reading, hiking, harmonizing, disc golf, and searching for moments of quiet in the midst of parenting. My spouse and I are baptized members of Mennonite Church USA.
