About Me

Mr. Boyd has an M.S. in Music Technology from Indiana University (IUPUI) and a B.Mus in Music Education from Westminster College (New Wilmington, PA).  Work in audio has been a significant portion of his livelihood for over 25 years.  He has worked primarily in classical on-site recording, as a DJ and event host, stage management, and live sound in addition to non-musical endeavors in software development and accounting.  During his tenure as the primary engineer for the Department of Music at the University of Pittsburgh, his work with internationally recognized contemporary chamber ensembles, graduate composers, and university-wide student groups highlighted the need for better technical education for musicians across the board. His overarching drive has become empowering musicians with technology.  He has taught courses at the Community College of Allegheny College (PA) and he is active in the Association of Technology in Music Instruction (ATMI). He has also presented at ATMI conferences and assisted with pre-conference sessions, as well as presenting at an audio student workshop for the Audio Engineering Society student organization at Ohio University. He intends to continue to share his knowledge in future presentations and workshops.
