Pittsbugh Promise Program

As a Preferred College Partner, Westminster will provide the following additional funding and services to all Pittsburgh Promise scholars:

  • A housing grant in the amount of $2,000 per year for up to four consecutive years
  • A wide range of student support services, including
    • Counseling Services
    • Disability Resources to support learning
    • Health Center
    • Office of Faith and Spirituality, including ecumenical support
    • Transportation to Pittsburgh airport, train, and bus station (weekends and official College closing)
    • International Student Assistance and Study Abroad advising
    • C.A.R.E. Team (crisis prevention)
    • Diversity and Inclusion Office
    • Learning Center for peer tutoring and writing support
    • Intramural sports, Fitness centers (2), natatorium
    • Lending Library for textbooks to those who qualify financially
    • One-on-one advising with faculty member in the student's discipline
    • Courses taught primarily by faculty with a Ph.D. or terminal degree (not teaching assistants)
    • Small class sizes that promote individualized attention and a rigorous education
    • A planetarium to support research in astronomy; a certified preschool to support research in child development; and active theatre, art, and music facilities to support creative endeavors
    • A library with expansive physical and online holdings and collaborative learning spaces
    • Career Services to help students identify mentors and internships, and develop professional skills for job searches and interviews. Annual professional networking symposium that connects students with alumni employers and mentors
    • Varsity sports for both men and women
    • Staffed study hall for athletic teams
    • An all-college honors program and other disciplinary honors societies
    • A strong, supported program of undergraduate research, including funding to help students travel to conferences where they present their scholarship
    • A variety of affinity and disciplinary clubs that provide opportunities for social and professional development
    • Co-curricular opportunities to extend learning beyond the classroom
