Physical Therapists use massage, heat treatment, and prescribed exercise rather than drugs or surgery to treat clients. A four-year bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, or physics prepares students for admission to most physical therapy graduate programs in the United States. At Westminster, qualifying students can participate in a 3-3 articulation program and spend three years studying at Westminster followed by three years at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh to earn both the B.S. and D.P.T. degrees in six rather than the traditional seven years. Physical therapy schools that Westminster students have attended beyond Duquesne include Gannon University, University of Pittsburgh, and Wheeling Jesuit University.
