Posted on Tuesday, August 19, 2003

Westminster College welcomes the Class of 2007 Friday, Aug. 22, at 8 a.m.

The 350-member class of 2007 will be greeted by over 60 tie-dye upperclassmen who will help them unload their car, truck or vanloads of personal items into the residence halls where they will spend the next four years.

After unpacking is completed and lunch is served, the class of 2007 and their parents will attend Opening Convocation at 1:30 in Orr Auditorium to hear greetings from President R. Thomas Williamson, Dr. Jesse T. Mann, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, and Christine Atkins, student government president. Special music is provided by the Student Brass Ensemble under the direction of R. Tad Greig. Dr. David Barner, associate professor of broadcast communications, will deliver a special address, "Paving Your Road to Success at Westminster."

After a special president's reception, the parents and first-year students will say their goodbyes, and continue to special events planned just for them. After parents depart, the new students will be divided among the volunteers, who will serve as group leaders for the next week.
