School of Communications faculty present at BEA convention

NEW WILMINGTON, PA — School of Communication faculty Dr. Keith Corso '84 and Bradley Weaver attended the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Convention at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas in early April. Both faculty members appeared on stages presenting to peers, graduates and undergraduates, as well as industry professionals.

Corso, assistant professor of communication services, served as one of the convention’s expert panelists for the program “Promoting Student Media Efforts Through Social Media Channels.” The BEA’s Division on Interactive Media & Emerging Technologies sponsored the panel.

Weaver, lecturer in the School of Communication, presented “Front-loading Documentary Experiences for Pitching and Pre-production” as part of the panel “Documentary Storytelling Pedagogies that Provide Preparation for Industry.” Weaver based the presentation on the research and pre-production curriculum and successes at Westminster for capstone students in Broadcasting and Media Production and Multimedia Journalism. BEA’s Documentary Division and Curriculum Assessment & Administration Division sponsored Weaver's presentation.

The convention also allowed Corso and Weaver to network with Westminster College alumnus Andy Borts '10, who currently works in information and technology services at the University of Las Vegas.

Corso has been a member of the Westminster faculty since 2003. He holds a bachelor's degree from Westminster, a master's from the University of Akron and. a Ph.D. from Capella University.

Weaver joined the Westminster faculty in 2000. He received a bachelor's degree from Alderson-Broaddus University, a master of science degree from the University of Kansas and a master of education degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
