Westminster Alumnus Writes Book of Childhood Memories

Posted on Tuesday, September 23, 2003

Valentine Brkich, a 1997 Westminster College graduate, recently wrote "Cageball, Poker, and the Atomic Wedgie: A Tale of Catholic School Mischief," a book about his childhood school memories.

"This book is the realization of a lifelong dream to become a published author," said Brkich. "It's a compilation of stories and memories from my eight years in Catholic school. Some of these stories have never been told, however, I feel I am old enough now to share these tales of mischief with the world unashamedly and without any fear of retribution from my parents."

"Back in 1996, when I was a second semester junior at Westminster College, I changed my major from computer science to English," continued Brkich. "As part of the English curriculum, I was required to complete a senior paper, and it was then that I began to write my memoirs of Catholic school. Tales From Sts. Peter and Paul' was around 60 pages, and it wasn't until 1998 that I decided to revisit my college project. Over the next few years, I continued to add to it until it blossomed into a full-fledged, 215-page novel."
