Senior criminal justice major Max Ungerman '18 recieved a travel grant from the Drinko Center to attend the Academy of Criminal Justice conference in New Orleans. Under the mentorship of Dr. Kristenne Robison, Max presented his reaserch entitled "Discovering the Learning Perspective of the Incarcerated Female Student: A Qualitative Diary Study," which analyzed the experiences of incarcerated women.

"Attending this conference has allowed me to network and gain insight into pressing concerns and innovative research in the criminal justice field. Additionally, traveling this far for the first time has given me more social skills and real world application of responsibility which are useful for my career.

As of now, my career interests and goals are in the fields of law and criminal justice. I plan on attending law school and becoming a criminal defense attorney which can involve working closely with the incarcerated and the criminal justice system. "
