Posted on Monday, October 20, 2003

Linda Eder, Broadway star and recording artist, will entertain the Westminster College Celebrity Series audience Thursday, Nov. 6, at 8 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

"It's a rare treat for the Celebrity Series audience to have Linda Eder on our season," said Gene DeCaprio, director of the Westminster College Celebrity Series. "She's at the peak of her career. Her magnificent three-octave voice and dynamic delivery should be heard by everyone."

"I'm not someone who focuses on technique," said Eder. "I think only about the emotion of the song and the lyric, the way that it makes me feel, the way that it makes the audience feel. It's all about communicating emotionally."

Eder began her career singing career as a teenager singing in her father's restaurant, and then did some nightclub work. Her first break came via national exposure on "Star Search," where she had an unprecedented 13 weeks of success. It was through "Star Search" that she met her husband-to-be, composer Frank Wildhorn, who wrote the score for the Broadway success "Jekyll and Hyde" that starred Eder.

Since leaving "Jekyll & Hyde," she recorded several albums including her self-titled debut on RCA, "And So Much More" on Angel records, and "It's Time, It's No Secret Anymore," "Christmas Stays the Same," and "Gold" on Atlantic records. She has also performed two sold-out concerts at Carnegie Hall to a "thunderously adoring audience." Eder will soon release her new album "Broadway My Way," which will coincide with her return engagement to Carnegie Hall.
