Westminster Education Professor Published Paper

Posted on Friday, December 5, 2003

Dr. William Evans, associate professor of education and coordinator of the Counselor Education program at Westminster College, recently co-authored a paper published in the Journal Measurement of Evaluation in Counseling and Development.

""Development and Psychometric Properties of Short Index of Self-Directedness" adapts items from a larger psychological scale that measures self directedness to make a shorter version of this scale that would be quicker to administer in a clinical setting," Evans said. "The scale shows promise as a screening tool for identifying the presence of personality disorders."

Along with undergraduate classes in education, Evans teaches many counseling education courses for Westminster College's Graduate Program. Evans earned his undergraduate degree from the Pennsylvania State University, his master's degree from Youngstown State University, and his Ph.D. from Kent State University.
