Westminster Seniors to Give Dual Recital Dec. 10

Cynthia Mancini and Douglas Spiri, Westminster College senior music education majors, will perform a combined voice and trumpet recital Saturday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

Spiri, a baritone, will perform "Sempre in contrasti," "Psyché,"  "Lebe Wohl," "Serenade," "Le veau d'or," "Deh vieni alla finestra," "Watchful's Song," "Pilgrim's Psalm," "When Sweet Ann Sings," and "If I Can't Love Her."  He will also be performing "Take Me As I Am" as a duet with Katherine Menhorn, a junior music education major from Berlin.

Mancini, trumpet, will perform "Rondeau and Fanfares," "Concerto" and "Fanfare for St. Edmunsbury," performed as a trumpet trio with Andrew Erb, a member of the music faculty, and Nicholas Olesko, a member of the Faculty Brass Ensemble.  She will also play "Animal Ditties" with Jason Perry, a sophomore music education major from Shippenville, as narrator. 

Spiri is the son of Paul and Barbara Spiri, Pittsburgh, and a graduate of Plum High School.  At Westminster, he has been involved in the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Men's Choir, and Symphonic Band, and the Titan Marching Band, where he served as Vice President.  He is also a member of the campus chapters of American Choral Directors Association, Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association, and Mu Phi Epsilon, the national music fraternity.  Spiri has also been involved in many productions on campus such as chapel drama where he portrayed Adam and Noah in Children of Eden and Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  He was also in the musical Kiss Me Kate where he played the part of Bill Calhoun.

Mancini is the daughter of James and Denise Mancini, McKees Rocks, and a graduate of Montour High School.  While at Westminster, she has been involved in Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, Brass Quintet, Jazz Band, and the Titan Marching Band, where she was drum major.  She recently won the Young Conductor's Competition and conducted the Wind Ensemble in the fall concert.  For the past two years, she was a participant in Intercollegiate Band.  She is also a member of Mu Phi Epsilon a national music fraternity. Mancini is the region one coordinator and former president of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association.  She currently holds the position of Vice President Membership in Kappa Delta Sorority.
