Westminster College to Recognize the College's and Nation's Veterans

Posted on Wednesday, November 5, 2014

Monday, Nov. 10 at 11:40 a.m. in Orr Auditorium, Westminster College will host a recognition ceremony for the college's and nation's veterans.

"This ceremony is an opportunity for members of the college community to honor the men and women from Westminster and around the nation who have made it possible to pursue the advantage of a Westminster education." said Dr. Scott Mackenzie, Chair for the Department of Communication Studies, Theatre and Art and Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran.

The wind ensemble and chamber choir will perform patriotic music, and Dr. Kirk Lunnen, associate professor of psychology and Lt. Col. in the United States Air Force Reserve will speak about his military experience, his veteran status, and what being part of the Westminster community has meant to him.

"Our alumni have served in all branches of the armed forces dating all the way back to the civil war," shares Mackenzie. "I would love to see the entire campus community take an hour to visit Orr Auditorium, listen to some fine music from our talented ensembles and hear from a veteran who has been part of the community for the last 13 years."
