Westminster College is offering a Computer Science Workshop June 22-24 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Hoyt Science Resources Center Room G-35.

"The workshop included two tracks: Java programming and VisualBasic.Net programming," said Dr. David Shaffer, assistant professor of computer science.  "The level of the material will be tailored to the attendees' needs, but we will also provide introductory to advanced training in both of these technologies.  Advanced topics could include graphical user interface in Java, network programming, and data structures and algorithms.

"Of course, all topics will be appropriate for improving mastery of the language and useful as potential projects for your students.  This workshop will be hands-on and focused on activities that enhance mastery of these languages."

Workshop leaders include Shaffer and Dr. Terri Lenox, assistant professor of computer science at Westminster College.

All educational materials, including breakfast and lunch, are included in this workshop at no cost, but registration is limited to 18 individuals and will be accepted at a first-come, first-served basis through June 14.

This free workshop is sponsored by the Westminster College Department of Mathematics and Computer Science through the Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.  Support for this program is provided by Westminster College and the Grable Foundation of Pittsburgh.
