Westminster College Earth Week Activities Announced

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College's Earth Week celebration will include activities through the end of April.

Highlights include:

April 19-21
"Promised Land" Movie - Mueller Theater, Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m.   
and 10 p.m., and Sunday at  9 p.m.; Sponsored by Campus Programming Council.         

April 19 
Datashed Training Workshop ­- Field Station, at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.; Sponsored by Stream Restoration, Inc. and hosted by Environmental Programs.

Sustainable Urban Stormwater Management - Learning from Green Infrastructure Implementation in the Nine Mile Run Watershed - Witherspoon Room in McKelvey Campus Center, at 7:30 p.m.; Speaker is Sara Powell, MS; Sponsored by Penn-Ohio Border Section.

April 20                       
E-Recycling Drive - Hoyt Science Center Loading Dock, 9 a.m.-noon. For a list of recyclable materials view www.westminster.edu/greenav. Organized by Audio Visual Services.

April 21                       
Open Door Worship - Earth Day Vespers - Edmiston Meditation Labyrinth (weather permitting), at 7 p.m. Service will be followed by a bonfire with hot dogs and
s'mores. In case of rain, service will be held at Anderson Amphitheatre. Sponsored by the Chapel Office and Church Relations.

Bio Trail Clean-Up - Starting at the Field Station, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Sponsored by Alpha Phi Omega.

April 22
Earth Day Canoe Tour - Meeting at Brittain Lake Dock, 3-5 p.m.; Refreshments will be provided. Organized by Sierra Student Coalition (SSC). For reservations RSVP to SSC by April 20.

April 22-28
Edible Waste Challenge - Duff Student Center, all week. Progress will be displayed all month. Sponsored by Sodexo.

April 22-27
Reusable Cup Week - The TUB and Titan Club, all week. Bring your own reusable cup for a free 32 oz. fountain drink. Sponsored by Sodexo.

April 25
Environmental Programs Lunch Seminar: Making Recycled Paper: From Waste to Good Taste! - HSC 352 (Chemistry Lab), 12:45-1:30 p.m.; Sponsored by Environmental Program and Erin Sullivan `14.

April 26                     
"Disney's Earth" Movie - Mueller Theater, 5:30-7 p.m.; Organized by Tri Beta.

April 30
Environmental Programs Lunch Seminar: Hydraulic Fracturing 101: An Overview of the Science of Fracking ­- Hoyt Science Center, 12:45-1:45 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Sponsored by Environmental Programs and SSC.
