Sara Elizabeth Kimbell, a senior vocal performance major at Westminster College, will perform a recital Saturday, March 12, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.
Kimbell will present an hour-long recital with pieces ranging from classical masterpieces to modern day Broadway hits. Featuring some of her favorite composers, the program list includes pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Samuel Barber, and Claude Debussy, in addition to a highly-heralded modern piece by famed playwright Andrew Lloyd Weber. She will be accompanied by Jeff Wachter on piano and assisted by Westminster alumnus Sean Taylor in two duets.
During her career at Westminster College, Kimbell participated in many different music ensembles including the Chamber Choir and Concert Choir. She performed with the Opera Workshop class as Susanna in scenes from The Marriage of Figaro and as one of the Queen's ladies in The Magic Flute. Music honors include a scholarship from the music group Opus One and third place in the sophomore women division at the NATS competition in 2001. Outside the music department, Kimbell participated in many Westminster Theater productions, where she played the part of Abigail in The Crucible and Polly in the musical Crazy For You.
Kimbell is the oldest of four daughters to Jack and Barbara Kimbell, Gibsonia, and is a graduate of Mars Area High School.
