Posted on Friday, August 26, 2011

Westminster College's Media Art program in the Department of Communication Studies, Theatre and Art will host TYPOGRAPHY 32, an international exhibition of excellence in typography and communications, Sept. 5-16.  The event is free and open to the public.

Exhibits will be on display at three campus locations: second and third levels of the McKelvey Campus Center and the second floor of Thompson-Clark Hall.

The Type Directors Club of New York City holds an annual international competition to select the best in use of type and letterform in design and typeface design.  The winners are reproduced in TYPOGRAPHY 32 Annual and displayed in seven exhibits that travel worldwide.

The most recent exhibition, TYPOGRAPHY 32, features a selection of more than 150 pieces of communications materials, including advertising, books, brochures, catalogs, logos, magazines, typeface designs, and packaging from professionally published work and college student work.

The Type Directors Club is the leading international organization that supports excellence in typography, both in print and on screen.  Founded in 1946 by some of the industry's leading practitioners, the Type Directors Club represents the best of today's type design and use of typography.
