College Expands Earth Week to Month-Long Observance

Westminster College has expanded its observance of Earth Week to a month of activities extending into the first week of May.

The celebration kicked off with Earth Day vespers April 10 at the Edmiston Labyrinth at the Field Station.

Additional highlights for the month include:
• April 15: Go Bottleless in the TUB
• April 15-17: Viewings of Oceans and Pocahontas - Sebastian Mueller Theater of the McKelvey Campus Center
• April 19: Healthy Living Fair and technology recycling - McGinness Dining Hall
• April 20: Tree planting
• Until April 23: Image of the Month contest submissions
• April 27: Undergraduate Research and Arts Celebration - "How Academic Science Can Be Transformed into Public Service and Learning for College Students" by keynote speaker Dr. Joseph Gardella, Beeghly Theater
• April 29: Solar energy display - outside McKelvey Campus Center
• April 30: Meg Rankin Memorial Earth Day 5K Run/Walk - Field House
• May 1: Tree planting and trail maintenance - Field Station
• May 7: E-Recycling Drive - Hoyt Science Resources Center loading dock

Throughout the month, art students will follow the theme of "Earth, Air, Fire, Water" as they create installations on the walls of the Patterson Hall Art Gallery.
