Choruses to Present Fall Concert Nov. 19

The Westminster College Women's Chamber Ensemble, Women's Chorus, and Men's Chorus will present their fall concert Friday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.

The program for the Women's Chamber Ensemble, accompanied by Tricia Glorioso, will include Paul Read's "Birdsong;" Paul Sjolund's arrangement of the spiritual "Kumbaya;" "Lux Aeterna" by Michelle Roueché; Audrey Snyder's "Dark Brown Is the River" with words by Robert Louis Stevenson; and Russ Robinson's arrangement of Harold Arlen's "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz.

The Women's Chorus program includes "Sanctus" by Jan Sandström; "Ave, Regina Coelorum" by Larysa Kuzmenko; John Coates Jr.'s arrangement of the early American melody "Amazing Grace;" Ronald R. Weiler II's arrangement of René Clausen's "All That Hath Life and Breath Praise Ye the Lord!" featuring soloist Kathleen Bachtel; Joshua Shank's "Three Nightsongs;" and Paul Basler's "Alleluia" with Monica Ruhlman on French Horn and Steve Flory and Cody Floyd on percussion. Daniel Goffus is the accompanist.

The Men's Chorus portion of the program includes "Amor Vittorioso" by Giovanni Gastoldi; Mark Hayes' arrangement of "Grace" conducted by Kevin Tomb; William Powell's arrangement of Rosephanye Powell's "The Word was God" conducted by Shawn Sisler; "A Red, Red Rose" by Eric William Barnum with words by Robert Burns; Andrea Ramsey's arrangement of Frank Wildhorn's "Tell My Father;" "Fogarty's Cove" by Ron Smail; and "Pirate Song" by Tim Y. Jones. The Men's Chorus is accompanied by Leaha Parady.

The combined choruses will conclude the concert with Basler's "Agnus Dei" featuring Ruhlman on French horn and Flory and Floyd on percussion; and Mack Wilberg's arrangement of "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" with Mr. Kris Harper at the organ.

The women's groups are under the direction of Harper, Westminster adjunct music faculty and 1981 Westminster graduate who earned a master's from Youngstown State University.

The Men's Chorus is under the direction of Dr. Robin Lind, associate professor of music and director of choral activities. Lind, who has been with Westminster since 2000, earned an undergraduate degree from the College of Idaho, master's from the University of Oregon, and Ph.D. from the University of Utah.
