Senior to Present Vocal Recital Nov. 7

Alison Paden, a Westminster College senior music education major, will present her capstone voice recital Sunday, Nov. 7, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The program is free and open to the public.

The program includes works by Bach, Respighi, Debussy, Gounod, Brahms, Menotti, Fine, and Niles, and will close with a selection from the musical Hairspray. Paden will be accompanied by pianist Marie Libal-Smith, Westminster adjunct music faculty, and senior sacred music and music education major Claudia Brown on viola.

Paden is a daughter of Jerry and Judi Paden of Brookville and a graduate of Brookville Area High School.

Brown is a daughter of Ronald Brown, Pittsburgh, and Gaye Shepherd, Sierra Vista, Ariz., and a graduate of North Hills High School.

At Westminster, Paden is active in Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Gospel Choir. She is president of Student Alumni Association, Campus Programming Council, and Pi Sigma Pi honor society; treasurer of American Choral Directors Association and Mu Phi Epsilon music honor fraternity; and a member of Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association, Mortar Board national honor society, Omicron Delta Kappa honor society, Habitat for Humanity, and Students Against Destructive Decisions. She will be student teaching in the Mercer Area and West Middlesex school districts during the spring semester.

Paden, a mezzo-soprano, is from the studio of Dr. Robin Lind, Westminster associate professor of music and director of choral activities.
