Peace Studies Coffeehouse to Host Recent Graduate

Posted on Monday, September 20, 2010

Veronica Geretz, a 2009 Westminster College graduate, will be the guest speaker at the Peace Studies Coffeehouse on Sierra Leone Monday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Witherspoon Maple Room of the McKelvey Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Geretz, who is pursuing a master's in peace and justice studies at the University of San Diego's Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies, spent three months in Sierra Leone, West Africa, as an intern with Fambul Tok International, a non-governmental organization that facilitates reconciliation dialogue and initiatives in rural communities. She observed the role of community reconciliation as a form of collective trauma transformation and taught yoga as a form of individual trauma transformation.

Contact Dr. Sherri Pataki, Westminster assistant professor of psychology and coordinator of the coffeehouse, at (724) 946-7361 or e-mail patakisp@westminster.edu for additional information.
