Faculty Ensembles Give Summer Performances

Posted on Tuesday, August 17, 2010

The Westminster College Faculty Jazz Quartet and the Faculty Brass Quintet performed for a variety of audiences over the summer.

The Jazz Quartet performed at the Dublin (Ohio) Arts Festival in June and is on the schedule for the Sharon Blues Festival Sept. 11. Faculty members are Mark Antonich on guitar, Jeff Bremer on bass, Perry Gatch on drums, and Jeff Wachter on piano.

The Brass Quintet performed for the Keynote Opening of the National Federation of Music Club's conference in Pittsburgh in early August. Faculty members are Robert Antonucci on tuba, Andrew Erb and Terry Gale on trumpet, Robert Matchett on trombone, and Heather Johnson filling in for Rob Cole on horn.

"We are extremely fortunate to have great teachers who are still very active professional performing musicians on our faculty," said Dr. R. Tad Greig, chair of Westminster's Department of Music and director of bands. "I am very pleased to see them providing wonderful entertainment in the community and showcasing this unique dimension of Westminster's music department."
