Music Majors to Present Senior Capstone Recital Dec. 6

Westminster College soprano Katlyn Schroll and flutist Melissa Wayne will present their senior recital Sunday, Dec. 6, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.

Pianists Marie Libal-Smith and Jeff Wachter, Westminster adjunct music faculty, will provide accompaniment.

Schroll, a music education major, is a daughter of Jeffrey and Terry Schroll of Canton, Ohio, and a graduate of Canton McKinley High School.

Her portion of the program includes selections by Handel, Satie, Strauss, Hundley, and Moore. She will join Wayne for a duet on Sir Henry Bishop's "Echo Song."

Schroll is a member of the Women's Chorus, Women's Chamber Ensemble, Concert Choir, and Chamber Singers and has performed with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. She is vice president of fellowship for Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association, and Kappa Delta sorority. She will be a student teacher at Riverside High School in Ellwood City for the spring semester.

Schroll studies with Dr. Anne Hagan Bentz, Westminster associate professor of music.

Wayne, a music education major, is a daughter of Thomas and Tina Wayne of McKees Rocks and a graduate of Montour High School.

Her portion of the program includes selections by Gaubert, Hindemith, and Mozart. She will be joined by senior Claudia Brown on viola and sophomore Samantha Weston on harp for three numbers from Carl Nielson's "The Mother."

Wayne is a member of the Westminster Orchestra, Mu Phi Epsilon music fraternity, Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association, and Sigma Kappa sorority. She will be a student teacher at Beaver Falls Area High School in the spring.

Wayne is from the studio of David Tessmer, Westminster adjunct music faculty.
