Four Westminster College faculty will present "Teachers' Academy: 'I Can Not Confirm Coffee and Bagels, Yet'" at Faires Faculty Forum Wednesday, March 25, at 11:40 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater in the McKelvey Campus Center.

"The Teachers' Academy is one of many outreach programs supported by [Westminster's] Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning that is conceived and directed entirely by Westminster faculty," said Dr. Patrick Krantz, Westminster associate professor of education, co-director of the Drinko Center, and one of the presenters. "The forum describes the experiences of faculty members within the Academy. Topics will include design and implementation of curriculum, recruitment of faculty, and success stories."

"The forum will also include an overview of the Drinko Center's structure and other opportunities for faculty involvement," Krantz added.

Other presenters at the forum include: Dr. Craig Caylor, associate professor and chair of Westminster's Department of Physics; Peggy Cox, professor of art; and Evann Garrison, lecturer of English and 1975 Westminster graduate.

The Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning was created to enrich undergraduate education at Westminster through advancing world-class teaching as well as by participating in collaborations that address community and regional needs including strengthening K-12 education.

Faculty Forum was established in 1990 by Dr. Barbara Faires, Westminster professor of mathematics, during her term as Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Faculty members from all disciplines volunteer to present lectures on their current research, artistic productions, and/or scholarship of teaching and learning. Each forum presents new ideas with innovative lecture techniques.
