Celebrity Series to Present Altar Boyz

Posted on Thursday, October 2, 2008

Westminster College's Celebrity Series will feature the musical comedy Altar Boyz Friday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

Altar Boyz is the hilarious account of a struggling Christian boy-band (with one nice Jewish boy who's not quite sure how he ended up there) looking for their big break in the Big Apple.

The small-town boys-Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan, and Abraham-are trying to save the world one screaming fan at a time. Their pious pop act, including lyrics like "Jesus Called Me on My Cell Phone," worked wonders on the Ohio bingo-hall-and-pancake-breakfast circuit, but when fate takes them to New York, will they take a bite of the forbidden apple?

With sweet harmonies, spectacular dancing, and an unnerving sense of fashion, Altar Boyz is a musical for the entire family.

The show is sponsored by Jameson Health System in New Castle.

Season subscriptions and single-show tickets are still available. Contact Connie McGinnis, assistant director of the Celebrity Series, at (724) 946-7354 (e-mail mcginncl@westminster.edu) or visit www.westminster.edu/Celebrity for more information.
