Wind Ensemble to Present "Ideas and Images"

Posted on Monday, February 18, 2008

The Westminster College Wind Ensemble will present "Ideas and Images" Friday, Feb. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

Under the direction of Dr. R. Tad Greig, Westminster College assistant professor of music and director of bands, the concert is free and open to the public.

"As the concert title suggests, each piece conveys a composer's musical images or ideas of a story, time, or situation. I am extremely proud of the level of musicianship that the student musicians have demonstrated to be able to perform such demanding technical and expressive works," Greig said.

The program includes: "Rocky Point Holiday" by Ron Nelson; "Orpheus and Eurydice" by Andrew Boysen Jr.; "Knee High by the Fourth" by Wendell Yuponce; and "Gloriosa" by Yasuhide Ito.

"These works are all major selections within the wind ensemble realm," Greig said. "They provide the musicians as well as the audience an opportunity for new and fresh musical litening."
