Career Center to Host Dine 'n Shine

Posted on Friday, February 8, 2008

"Puttin' on the Ritz" is the theme for the Westminster College Career Center's annual "Dine n' Shine" to be held Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the Witherspoon Rooms of the McKelvey Campus Center.

The "seniors only" event was originally called the etiquette dinner, and has been a Westminster tradition for a decade. "Puttin' on the Ritz" includes dinner, music, a business fashion show, and a speaker.

Jackie Meade, director of Westminster's Career Center, explained, "The idea behind the program is to help students who are about to enter the world of interviews-and ultimately, the workplace-to be prepared for business conducted during a meal, and to understand the difference between business professional dress and business casual."

Dr. Cary Wecht Horvath, assistant professor and chair of the Communication Department at Youngstown State University and former Westminster professor, is the featured speaker.

Westminster College students will model clothing borrowed from Haggar, Brooks Brothers, Kaspar, and Liz Claiborne - Woman; and shoes from Rockport and 9West, all located in the Grove City Prime Outlets. "We have enjoyed an on-going relationship with these stores through the years," Meade said. "The managers are always invited to be our guests for the evening."

Dr. Nancy DeSalvo, Westminster College associate professor and chair of the Department of Music, will set the tone for the evening with selections at the piano.

Contact Meade at (724) 946-7343 or e-mail meadelb@westminster.edu for additional information.
