Professor to Speak on Jewish Music

Posted on Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Dr. Robin Lind, Westminster associate professor of music and director of choral activities, will speak on "Music of the Jewish People" at Faires Faculty Forum Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 11:40 a.m. in Orr Auditorium.

Following a brief discussion of the music, the Westminster Chamber Singers will perform several songs, including a Renaissance piece by Salamone Rossi; two Yiddish songs; and "Tsvey Taybelekh" ("The Two Doves"), written for women's voices.

Faculty Forum was established in 1990 by Dr. Barbara Faires, Westminster professor of mathematics, during her term as Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Faculty members from all disciplines volunteer to present lectures on their current research, artistic productions, and/or scholarship of teaching and learning. Each forum presents new ideas with innovative lecture techniques.

Lind, who has been with Westminster since 2000, earned an undergraduate degree from the College of Idaho, a master's from the University of Oregon, and Ph.D. from the University of Utah.

Contact Lind at (724) 946-7278 or e-mail lindra@westminster.edu for additional information.
