Mock Convention Announces Keynote Speaker

Nationally syndicated radio talk show host Bill Press will deliver the keynote speech at Westminster College's 18th Mock Convention Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

The speech is free and open to the public.

Press, host of The Bill Press Show, draws on 25 years of experience in the media and state and national politics.

He has co-hosted MSNBC's Buchanan and Press, as well as CNN's Crossfire and Spin Room. He has received numerous awards for his work, including four Emmys and a Golden Mike Award, and was named Best Commentator of the Year by the Associated Press in 1992.

Press is the author of three best-selling political books and is a nationally syndicated newspaper columnist.

Press served in various governmental positions, including chairman of the California Democratic Party, chief of staff to California State Senator Peter Behr, and director of the California Office of Planning and Research under Gov. Jerry Brown. He managed several political campaigns and was a candidate in the Democratic primary for California State Insurance Commissioner.

A native of Delaware, Press earned an undergraduate degree from Niagara University and a degree in theology from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland.

Westminster's Mock Convention concludes Nov. 8 with the selection of the Democratic presidential and vice presidential candidates.
