Student to Give Senior Capstone Recital

Mezzo-soprano JoAnne Johnston, a Westminster College senior music and business administration major, will perform her capstone senior recital Monday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

Her program includes: Giovanni Pergolesi's "Three Stizzoso, mio Stizzoso" from La Serva Padrona; Giacomo Puccini's "In Quelle Trine Morbide" from Manon Lescaut; Gabriel Fauré's "Chanson d'Amour;" Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel's "Nachtwanderer;" Clara Schumann's "Ihr Bildnis;" Hugo Wolf's "Schlafendes Jesukind;" Alec Rowley's "Mystical Songs;" Roger Quilter's "Three Songs of the Sea, Op.1;" George Gershwin's "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess; and Rodgers and Hammerstein's "You'll Never Walk Alone" from Carousel. The program is accompanied by Kathryn Miller, college organist, on the piano.

Johnston is a daughter of Gerald and Suzanne Johnston, Brookville, and a graduate of Clarion-Limestone High School. While at Westminster, Johnston has been a director's assistant and member of the chorus for Opera Westminster, and sang in the Women's Chorus and Concert Choir, which toured Spain in January. She also is a member of the Westminster Cross Country Team, the Argo staff, and Kappa Delta sorority.
