The Westminster College Planetarium will present "The Explorers of Mauna Kea" Thursday-Saturday, April 12-14, at 7 p.m. each night and a 3 p.m. show on Saturday, in the Planetarium located in room 116 of the Hoyt Science Resources Center.

This show takes viewers to the 14,000 ft. summit of the Mauna Kea volcano in Hawaii where astronomers explore the heavens with the world's greatest telescopes. Breathtaking aerial views allow the audience to soar above the impressive scenic stature of Mauna Kea to survey its projects and many recent discoveries. Join in the exploration of modern astronomy and its many techniques for learning the secrets of the universe. Included with the show will be a survey of the current night sky in our area.

Westminster hosts about three public shows a year, and age-appropriate shows are given to area school students as well as local scout groups.

The shows are free and open to the public, but reservations are required due to limited seating. Contact the Westminster College Department of Physics at (724) 946-7200 or e-mail pitmanmp@westminster.edu for reservations or more information.
