Critically acclaimed cellist Dr. Stephen Framil and Steinway Artist Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo will perform a joint recital Sunday, Feb. 18, at 3 p.m. in Westminster's Wallace Memorial Chapel.
The program includes Debussy's "Sonate pour violoncello et piano;" Brahms'
"Sonata for cello and piano, in e minor, Opus 38;" and Chopin's "Sonata for cello and piano, in g minor, Opus 65."
Guest artist Framil was a first prize winner in the 2004 CRS Competition for Performing Arts and has performed as a soloist with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra in the Philippines, Volgograd Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia, Carson City Symphony Orchestra in Nevada, and the Russian National Library Symphony Orchestra in St. Petersburg.
DeSalvo, who chairs Westminster's Music Department and is an assistant professor of music, is the winner of the Gwendoly Koldofsky Award and was awarded first prize in the Darius Milhaud Performance Auditions. She is a pianist with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra and has been a guest soloist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
