Westminster to Host Seminar for Educators Involved in Contract Negotiations

Westminster College's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is hosting "Negotiations Update-Exciting Opportunities in Negotiating Past Practice and Health Benefits" Thursday, Nov. 9, from 8:30 a.m.-noon in the Witherspoon Rooms of the McKelvey Campus Center.

This seminar is designed to help superintendents, administrators, business managers, or anyone involved in education contracts negotiate past practices and health care issues. Strategies, forms, and legal authority will be discussed.

Dr. Charles Steele, the featured speaker, has a wealth of experience in negotiating teacher contracts. He has negotiated over 60 collective bargaining agreements in the public sector and is currently negotiating two professional contracts. Steele has represented school districts before the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board in grievance arbitration on a frequent basis. He holds a law degree from the Duquesne University School of Law and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in school administration.

The Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning was developed to advance world-class teaching at Westminster and enrich K-12 education through outreach programs for area educators.
