Psychology Professor and Student Present Their Collaborative Research

Posted on Thursday, September 7, 2006

Dr. Mandy Medvin, Westminster professor of psychology and Gibson-Drinko Distinguished Chair of Psychology, recently presented "Influence of Rejection Sensitivity on Friendship Satisfaction and Quality" at the 114th annual American Psychological Association (APA) convention in New Orleans.

"This was a collaborative research with senior psychology major Kayla Pasquale," Medvin said. "Findings indicate that individuals who are more likely to perceive rejection in interactions with others report lower friendship sensitivity and quality."

"APA chose New Orleans as their convention site to support the rebuilding process and was only the second convention to be hosted at their new convention center since Hurricane Katrina," Medvin said.

Medvin, who has been with Westminster College since 1992, earned her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and Ph.D. from the University of Washington.

Pasquale is a daughter of Jeffrey and Tamara Marie Pasquale, Wampum, and a graduate of Mohawk Area High School.
