Westminster College Offers Personal Enrichment Classes

Westminster College announces several personal enrichment and leisure courses for community residents.  Continuing Education classes and seminars are non-credit and are open to all interested individuals.  Formal admission to Westminster College is not required.

Total Yoga Session C is offered Mondays, April 14-May 12, at 5:30 p.m., and is taught by Kathy Birkholz.  This class will focus on poses to aid in stress reduction and relaxation.

Pilates Session C is offered Wednesdays, April 16-May 14, at 6 p.m., and is taught by Kathy Birkholz.  This class follows the teachings of Joseph Pilates in strengthening the core of abdominal muscles along with toning and elongating the rest of the muscles of the body.

Power Yoga Session C is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 15-May 15, at 6 p.m., and is taught by Kathy Birkholz.  This class increases the speed that the poses are performed, as well as the length of time they are held.

Fit for Life for Seniors Session C is offered Wednesdays, April 16-May 14, at 10 a.m., and is taught by Kathy Birkholz.  This Yoga class moves slowly and gently to aid in mobility and general physical health.

Basic Fly-Tying Session II is offered Thursdays, April 3-April 24, at 6:30 p.m. and is taught by Christian Shane.  This class will teach both the basic techniques and methods to creating "fishable" flies, and the theory behind successful fly fishing.

Basic Spanish for Kids is offered Saturdays, April 12 and April 19 at 10 a.m.  This course is designed especially for children wanting to get a head start in learning the basic Spanish vocabulary.

Shopping for Savings is offered Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m.  This fun-filled seminar, taught by Kara Lee Mantinaos, will go over techniques to save time and money while shopping.

Painting is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 9-April 18, at 4 p.m.  This course helps the student to explore the world of painting in a relaxed fun-filled environment.

"Cyber-Seniors"-Internet for Seniors is offered Tuesday and Thursday, April 8 and April 10 at 4:30 p.m. and is taught by Mary Zahniser.  This course helps students to learn common Internet terminology, how to get onto the World Wide Web, find web sites, use browsers, and many more useful tips about internet use.

Genealogy I is offered Saturdays, April 5 and April 12 at 10 a.m. and is taught by Vonda Minner.  This course teaches the basics of how and where to begin a genealogical search.

 Genealogy II will also be offered Saturdays, May 8 and May 15 at 10 a.m., providing a continuation and more in depth look at things studied in the first course.
