Cuff will present "Last Tango in Buenos Aires: The Uneasy Dance of History, Biology, and Economics," which will address the current situation in Buenos Aires and Argentina, the nature of economic history, and his own research in anthropometric history.
Cuff recently presented a paper, "Better Boots Mean Shorter Men: Economic Development and the Biological Standard-of-Living in Antebellum Pennsylvania," at the 13th Congress of the International Economic History Association in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
His current research projects include: an analysis of the relationship between life span and body mass index for nineteenth century U.S. West Point Cadets; development of a chapter (1880-1914) of a local history for the town of New Wilmington; and an analysis of physical stature trends among an 8,000 case sample of Pennsylvania National Guard enlistees from 1860-1920.
Cuff, who has been with Westminster College since 2000, earned his undergraduate degree from Westminster College, his master's from Bowling Green State University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Cuff at (724) 946-6152 or e-mail cufft@westminster.edu.
