Westminster College recently established the Pi Alpha Chi chapter of the Chi Sigma Iota Academic and Professional Honor Society International.

"This society is for counselors-in-training, counselor educators, and professional counselors," said Dr. William Evans, associate professor of education at Westminster College and founder of the group. "Its mission is to promote scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership and excellence in counseling, and to recognize high attainment in the pursuit of clinical and academic excellence.

"I founded the Pi Alpha Chi chapter at Westminster so that graduate students and professional counselor alumni who work in the schools and community could have an opportunity to grow as professionals through service to the profession, networking, advanced training and advocacy," Evans said.

Fourteen charter members were inducted at the initiation ceremony held in May. They are as follows:

Tammy Bright, Grove City; Anne DeCapua, Brookfield, Ohio; Julianna Ferguson, Sharpsville; Debra Fine, Youngstown, Ohio; Mary Jefferson-Williams, Burghill, Ohio; Louise Mason, Youngstown, Ohio; Jennifer Merkich, Mayfield Heights, Ohio; Michelle Perry, Lowellville, Ohio; Marianne Ragan, Youngstown, Ohio; Jonathon Ramey, Warren Ohio; Kenya Roberts, Warren, Ohio; Desiree Rotondo, Baden; Jeffrey Sunderman, Volant; and Susan Watson, Kinsman, Ohio.
