Westminster College plans to celebrate its 150th year with a birthday bash weekend Friday-Sunday, June 28-30.

All alumni are invited to take a step back in time and stay in the residence halls on campus, and attend faculty lectures.

One such lecture, "The Last Buffalo Hunt," offers a historical perspective on hunting and fishing and their impact on the ecosystems; "Sports in the Bible," led by Dr. Dar Huey, chair and associate professor of education and 1974 alumni, will discuss subjects such as, Jesus in the Centerfield, Jesus in a Coaching Hat, and Jesus in the Bleachers.

Dr. Stephen Gittings, National Marine Sanctuaries science coordinator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and 1979 alumni, will talk about diving technologies used in research. Dr. James Rhoads, Jr., associate professor of political science at Westminster College, will discuss "The Politics of Rock & Roll," a look at the relationship between rock and roll music and the political realm.

Creativity is the subject for Paul Trokhan, a 1968 Westminster graduate and engineer for Upstream Development, a division of Procter and Gamble that creates novel and cost effective structures and processes for tissue products. His creativity and ability to look at problems from a unique prospective has earned him national recognition.

Alumni will also have a chance to attend choir rehearsals that culminate with a concert Saturday evening. Dinners in various dining rooms, a sundae social, swimming in the natatorium, and various campus tours, including a nature walk of Brittain Lake, Frey Nature Trail and the Outdoor Environmental Laboratory, are also offered.

Alumni are expected from various parts of the country. To check and see who is coming, visit the website http://www.westminster.edu/Alumni/BirthdayBash2002.htm. For more information, contact Mary James, director of alumni and 1984 Westminster College graduate, at (724) 946-7363.
