Confused about what to pack and what to leave home when coming to college for the first time? Westminster College's new website www.westminster.edu offers tips for new students and parents.

Clicking on the New Student Information link takes the searcher to areas such as "what to bring," "computer information," "mail," "cars," "meningitis inoculations," "transfer students," "banks in town," and even a "parents' section."

What should you bring to college? Essentials may vary by institution, but at Westminster all students should bring standard-size sheets, a pillow, towels, a study lamp, bath bucket or shower caddy, a 12-24 foot RG6 low loss black coaxial cable cord, a touch-tone telephone, an alarm clock, and stuff to make your new room your own such as pictures and posters.

Optional items include an area rug, an UL-approved microware and refrigerator, a coffee maker, a hot pot, a popcorn maker, an aquarium, a telephone extension cord, a fan, a TV, a VCR, a comfy chair, plates, cups, bowls, and silverware.

Westminster provides standard twin-size beds and mattresses, desks, desk chair, curtains, closet space, drawer space, wastebasket, computer port, phone jack, and washers, dryers, and ironing boards in each residence hall.
