Westminster College, in partnership with the Shenango Presbytery Leadership Development Team, will sponsor the first annual J. Calvin Rose Memorial Lecture, Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 6:30-9 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

Dr. Rose served as pastor in the Presbytery, and his vision and giving made a significant contribution toward the establishment of the Westminster College Office of College Relations.

The guest speaker for the evening is James D. Lueers, minister of worship and music at Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh. His talk, "Music and Worship in Today's Church," will address the role of music in worship, and how to transition a traditional service to a contemporary service.

Lueers holds music degrees in organ performance from Kansas University and Indiana University. While studying organ on a Fulbright scholarship in Vienna, he traveled with mission teams and toured with a contemporary Christian band. He is an active composer, dramatist, organist, and worship leader.

This lecture will also be offered a second time Sept. 19, from 6:30-9, at the East Main Presbyterian Church in Grove City.

Reservations for either lecture can be made by contacting Autumn Covert at the Presbytery Office by Sept. 11 at (724) 528-1610 or e-mail office@shenango.org.
