Westminster English Professor Begins Bleasby Colloquium

Dr. James Perkins, professor of English and chair of the Department of English and Public Relations, begins the 2002 Bleasby Colloquium Thursday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. in Hoyt Science Resources Center room 166.

"All of My Life Up to Now" will include Perkins' readings from his poetry and short stories.

Perkins has been writing in these two genres for over 30 years, and has published more than a 100 poems and short stories in literary magazines. He has given nearly 40 readings at colleges and universities throughout the country, including Hope, Yale, Hiram, Otterbein, Centre Maryville, Princeton, and New York University.

Perkins, who has taught at Westminster since 1973, earned his undergraduate degree from Centre College, a master's from Miami University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee.

He was a Fulbright Visiting Professor at Seoul National University in Korea. His publications include: three chapbooks of poetry; two collections of short stories; Southern Writers at Century's End, and All the King's Men: Three Stage Versions.
