Westminster College to Host United States Marine Band

Posted on Tuesday, September 17, 2002

Westminster College will host "The President's Own" United States Marine Band Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

For nearly two centuries, the United States Marine Band has been a part of those events which have shaped our national heritage. Since its founding in 1798, the Marine Band's primary mission has been to provide music for the President of the United States and Commandant of the Marine Corps. The band performs at the White House more than 200 times annually, and rarely leaves the Washington, D.C. area other than for 50 days in the fall when it plays 45 concerts to the public.

The concert is free and open to the public, and tickets are available at sponsors, The New Castle, The Herald, and the Westminster College Celebrity Series Office. For more information, contact Connie McGinnis, assistant director of the celebrity series, at (724) 946-7354.
