Four Distinguished Alumni Lecturers, Dr. Karen McFadden Coy, Dr. Judson C. McConnell, Dr. Donald J. Mitchell, and Lois Clark Ramey, will speak to various student groups on campus during homecoming week.
Coy, a 1987 Westminster graduate, is returning to present her lecture, "Secrets in Psychotherapy," Friday, Oct. 11, at 4 p.m. in Phillips Lecture Hall of the Hoyt Science Resources Center. Coy, who is currently in private practice, will present two case studies giving examples of the effects of clients disclosing secrets in psychotherapy.
McConnell, a 1955 Westminster graduate, will take part in the Religious Symposium, "Westminster's Faith Journey: 150 Years of God at Westminster," Thursday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. McConnell, who is currently interim general presbyter for the Presbytery of Huntingdon, will be part of a panel of religious experts from Westminster's current and former faculty members and chaplains. They will talk about the religious climate during their years at Westminster, and will answer questions from the audience.
Mitchell, a 1960 Westminster graduate, returns to present his lecture, "Basic Education - Higher Education Partnerships: Lessons Learned," Thursday, Oct. 10, at 4:30 p.m. in Phillips Lecture Hall of the Hoyt Science Resources Center. Mitchell, who is currently the director of the Science in Motion project at Juniata College and director of the Central Pennsylvania Chemistry Teachers Science Education Improvement Project, will discuss why education partnerships are needed, why they work, and what higher education should not do.
Ramey, a 1980 Westminster graduate, present her talk, "Arts Integrated Education," Friday, Oct. 11, at 3:10 in Patterson Hall music room 53. Ramey, who is currently the orchestra director of the Stivers High School, a school for the arts, specializes in arts integration.
