Westminster College Religion Professor Invited to Speak at Romanian Colleges

Dr. Bryan Rennie, associate professor of religion and philosophy at Westminster College, was recently invited to speak at several institutions in Romania.

Rennie was invited by Andrei Plesu, director of the New Europe College in Bucharest and former minister for foreign affairs and culture, to speak at New Europe College, as well as several other colleges in Romania.

"I participated in a program at the New Europe College, which include such well-known scholars as Matei Calinescu from Indiana University, and Philippe Roger from Paris," said Rennie. "I also participated in a round table discussion on Eliade, delivered a paper, and even appeared on Romania television."

Rennie has written a book, Reconstructing Eliade: Making Sense of Religion, which was translated and reprinted in Romania. He has numerous articles on a variety of religious subjects including Eliade. Rennie, who has been with Westminster since 1994, earned his bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
