Shannon DeArment, a senior music education major from Greenville, will give her senior mezzo soprano voice recital Sunday, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.
DeArment's program includes "Ah! Spietato!" by George Frideric Handel, "December Lark" by Robert Kreutz, "L'Heure exquise" by Reynaldo Hahn, "Si mes vers avaient des ailes" by Hahn, "Smanie implacabili" by Wofgang Amadeus Mozart, "Allerseelen" by Richard Strauss, "The Black Swan" by Gian Carlo Menotti, "Tell me on a Sunday" by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and "Don't Rain on My Parade" by Jule Styne.
DeArment is a daughter of Sheila DeArment, 229 Clinton St., Greenville, and Michael DeArment, Greenville. While at Westminster, she was a member of the Concert Choir, as well as a member and assistant conductor of the Women's Chorus. DeArment also participated in the Titan Marching Band for three years as a mallet percussionist. In 2001 she established the Westminster Collegiate Chapter of the American Choral Director's Association, and is currently serving as president. In addition, DeArment has participated in the Music Intern Teaching Program for three years, and worked as the musical director and pianist to the Greenville Area Leisure Service's Young People's Theatre for three summers.
