Mardi Gras Coming to Westminster College

Posted on Thursday, February 1, 2001

Mardi Gras is coming to Westminster College, Friday, Feb. 16, from 6-8:30 p.m. in Orr Lobby. Following the carnival, the Clarks with special guest, Grapevine, will perform in Orr Auditorium.

The event includes fireworks by Fireart that will kick-off the celebration, followed by a variety of free entertainment such as face painting, caricatures, and mask decorating with prizes awarded in various categories.

Several Westminster College organizations are sponsoring carnival booths, which include activities such as litter toss, twister, dime toss, ping-pong toss, palm reading, and birthday wheel.

Handing out free beaded necklaces will be the royal king and queen, Brian Barrett, a sophomore music major from Meadville, and Amy M. Young, a senior psychology major from Bridgetown, N.J.

The Student Alumni Association and the Campus Programming Committee sponsor the event, with major funding from the Student Government Association.

Mardi Gras admission is free, and is geared toward families with children. Admission to the 8 p.m. adult concert is free for those with Westminster identification, and $15 for everyone else.
