Westminster College Selects Diversity Coordinator

Jeannette Hooks has been named Diversity Coordinator at Westminster College.

As Diversity Coordinator, Hooks is responsible for all aspects of student diversity at Westminster College. The coordinator will work to enhance the College's efforts to build student, faculty, and staff awareness of and respect for cultural and individual differences. Her duties also include creating a more diverse student body through increased recruitment and retention of minority students, as well as helping to shape strategies for achieving institutional diversity goals.

Prior to coming to Westminster College, Hooks served as the corporate account representative at the Federal Express Corporate Headquarters in Pittsburgh. She also held positions as Director of Minority Affairs and Admissions Counselor at the Business Institute of Pennsylvania in Sharon.

A Farrell native, Hooks is pastor of the Bethel A.M.E. Church in New Castle. Active in her community, she is on the advisory board of Christian Kollege for Kidz, a member of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Lawrence County; a member of the Minority Health Drug and Alcohol Board; founder and CEO of Only in Mercer County; co-founder of Safe Haven Ministries "A Shelter in the Time of a Storm;" an advisory board member of Self-Development of People of the Presbyterian Church; a board member of Wheels to Work Committee of Mercer County; a board member of Wheels for Kids Committee of Mercer County; and a board of directors member of Women in Ministry of Shenango Valley.

She has received the Bravo Zulu Diversity Fair Award, the Professional Women's Club of Pittsburgh Award, the National Association of Business Women's History Award, the Outstanding Leadership Program Award, and a letter of appreciation from the Pennsylvania Governor's Office.
